Music Programs

Many music programs are offered at Croydon Public School; including band, strings, recorder and choir.

Band

Croydon Public School has two bands; a performing band and a training band. Our bands get to give performances to the other students at school, to parents at special musical events, and to other schools as part of a school concert program. The band members also attend band camps, go on tour, participate in the combined Inner-West Schools Musical Ensemble, play at band festivals, and just have fun playing in a band.

To be in the band you need an instrument! Most of the instruments available through school are on loan to the school from the Dept of Education and Training, while a few are owned by the school. Some of these are: trumpets, trombones, alto saxophones, tenor saxophones, keyboards, electric bass guitar, glockenspiel, flutes, clarinets, baritones and percussion/drums. Parents can also hire or buy instruments from local suppliers.

Children who already own an instrument are welcome to join. Students do not need any prior musical experience to join the band. Students can apply for the band program from Year 3 onwards.

 Both bands practise each Tuesday.

  • 8:00-9:00am for theTraining Band
  • 3:00-4:00pm for the Senior Band.

Tutorials are held throughout the day on Tuesdays.
